Output module settings apply to each render item and determine how the rendered movie is processed for final output. This process of encoding rendered frames into files for output is one kind of exporting. See Preview video and audio.Īfter a composition is rendered for final output, it is processed by one or more output modules that encode the rendered frames into one or more output files. In fact, it is possible to save a preview as a movie and use that as your final output. However, the processes of creating previews for the Footage, Layer, and Composition panels are also kinds of rendering. It is common to speak of rendering as if this term only applies to the final output. For more information on how each frame is rendered, see Render order and collapsing transformations. The rendering of a movie is the frame-by-frame rendering of each of the frames that make up the movie. The rendering of a frame is the creation of a composited two-dimensional image from all the layers, settings, and other information in a composition that makes up the model for that image. Rendering is the creation of the frames of a movie from a composition. If your render crashes halfway through (which is likely given that either the project or PC is sub optimal) then you’ll still have a portion of usable output, and can start a secondary attempt from the last crash point, where as if you use a single file then it’s all lost. There are a few effects that can be real cpu hogs that may be involved and can often be switched off or swapped for little visual impact.Ī few tips: always output long renders to lossless image sequences (either tiff with lzw compression or 24bit pngs). I work with AE regularly and having looked at the example reckon I’d expect that video at that resolution to render out in less than an hour on a fairly normal PC. What is your PC spec? What version of AE? Even if you have a low spec PC that seems pretty long, even with motion blur.
